• The average flying speed for a Homing Pigeon over a moderate distance say 500 miles is around 50 mph. However speeds of up to 110 mph have been observed in top racers for short distance 100 miles.
• Pigeons have great eyes; they can see ultraviolet light.
• Most birds take a sip of water and toss their heads back to drink; pigeons can use their beaks like a straw to suck up water.
• Pigeons have many types of feathers, some of which are accompanied by one or two filoplume feathers that look like hairs. These filoplumes may have sensory functions, such as detecting touch and pressure changes. |

Nutriblend Gold
Round, golden, grain-shaped pellet diet, 16 percent protein, for conditioning or maintenance.
Nutriblend Green
Round, green pellet, 18 percent protein, a breeder pellet.
Maintenance
Grain mix with popcorn, 11 percent protein, off-season maintenance.
Conditioners
High fat, 16 percent protein, lots of safflower, containing American yellow corn, a base mix or sole ration for racing and showing.
Breeder
Highest protein, contains no corn, 17 percent protein, a breeding mix. |

We Sell Grit |
| We sell Kaytee red and gray mineralized grit. They contain all essential minerals and the addition of charcoal for balancing crop pH. Also available are three sizes of gray granite and pullet-sized oyster shell. |
